Songs to Chill Out to:

I don’t really know what I’m doing but I do know that I’m stressed out 99.9% of the time…

We all get a little anxious sometimes. We all get a little crazy. That’s okay. I think it’s kind of normal.

Here are some songs that I’ve been *chilling out* to lately, because they make me feel like the world isn’t so big and it’s not really crashing down around me. Breathe. xxoo

Love on the Weekend // John Mayer

Oh, if you haven’t heard this song yet then you need to ASAP. Johnny boy makes a great comeback from the 2000’s with this baby. It’s upbeat enough that it’ll put you in a good mood but soft, and acoustic enough that it’ll keep you calm. “Love on the weekend, love on the weekend. I’m busted up, and I’m loving every minute of it.” It’s okay, John. We’re all a little busted up sometimes. And this song makes it a little more bearable.

3AM // Matchbox Twenty

Holy goodness, I have been obsessed with Matchbox Twenty since I was 11 years old still sitting in a car-seat (a story for another time). But, Rob Thomas and his men have been around for as long as I can remember, always making comforting music. If their music was a food, it would be mashed potatoes with some spicy seasoning thrown in here and there. Home-y enough to make you feel better, spicy enough to make you want to get moving again. “Well, I can’t help but be scared of it all sometimes.” You know what, sometimes I can’t help but being scared and anxious. You get me, Rob.

It Is What It Is // Kacey Musgraves

“It is what it is, ’til it ain’t anymore.” THAT LINE GETS ME EVERY TIME. With a little bit of her ~country twang~ Kacey tells us what it’s like to just live in the moment. Maybe it’s right or maybe it’s not. Sometimes you just have to take situations and experiences for what they are, don’t think too much about them, let them happen and then let them go. Sometimes, it is what it is, and that’s cool, too.

Ragdoll // Maroon 5

“How ya feelin’?” Not good, Adam. “The day has had its way with both of us.” This day has been kind of crappy. Actually, JK, because this week has been kind of crappy and I just need you to serenade me for a bit about how you got your lil tattooed heart broken and then realizing that you deserve better and you deserve to be happy. Me too, Adam!

Snowblind // Rob Thomas

“I think we’re snowblind. We’ve had a hard time and we can’t see where we are. Spending our whole lives, walking the same lines. And it doesn’t seem to stop.”  Do I really need to explain further? I mean, back at it again with my man, Rob. This soft, melodic number with calm you right down like a Popsicle on a summer day.

Moving On and Getting Over // Slow Dancing in a Burning Room // You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me // John Mayer

Okay. So I may have gone a little Mayer crazy, but hear me out. These songs will calm you right down even after someone tells you to calm down [because that only hypes people up… duh???]. I don’t know what it is about John Mayer, but he’s got a soothing quality to him even if he does have a womanizer reputation. Maybe he has the womanizer reputation because he’s so smooth? Well, I don’t really know or care as long as the music helps me de-stress and center myself.

Menswear // The 1975

There isn’t a ton of lyrics but that’s kind of the beauty of it. Then the lyrics that do follow tell you about a guy who really doesn’t have it together whatsoever. Let the music mellow you out and then let the words come in at the end, tell you a little story and relax, bro.

The Way I Am // Ingrid Michaelson

“If you were falling, then I would catch you. You need a light, I’d find a match. ‘Cause I love the way you say good morning. And you take me the way I am.” Sometimes, you need to look in the mirror and take yourself the way you are. Fall in love with yourself first.

Like all *great artists* [apparently], I don’t know what I’m doing. Still trying to figure it out.

Chillax lil mamas, all these great songs *and more* are featured on my Chillax Mama playlist on Spotify. Catch ya in a bit, xxoo
